About IIoET
Built for the whole frontier.
Emerging technology is served by strong single-domain bodies, but none convenes the whole frontier. Cyber security has a mature professional structure. Quantum has research infrastructure but no professional home. Artificial intelligence has only early, contested routes to professional recognition. The ground where these fields meet has no dedicated body at all. IIoET exists to recognise the practitioners leading this work, publish what they know, and make sure a new generation is ready to take it on.
Our purpose
To set and hold professional standards across emerging technology, to publish the thinking of the people shaping it, and to keep the route into the profession open. Our Mission, Vision and Values set this out in full.
Why now
The career ladder in technology is losing its lower rungs. Entry-level work that once built experience is increasingly automated, so fewer people get the start that makes them tomorrow's experts, just as demand for those experts grows.
At the same time, the fields themselves are converging faster than their professions. Employers and the public need a way to know who is competent across that frontier, and practitioners need a body that recognises the work they actually do.
How IIoET is governed
- IIOET Limited is a private company limited by guarantee. It has no shareholders and distributes no profit; its income is applied to its purpose.
- Members are admitted and held to published standards.
- Every member agrees to the Code of Conduct.
- Governing documents are public, versioned and listed in the Resources library.

IIoET serves practitioners in the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Canada, Australia and Singapore. Partners and collaborators will be named once agreed in writing.
