How admission works
Every application is assessed against the criteria in theMembership Grades and Admission Framework. Affiliate grades are open to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria and agrees to theCode of Conduct. Associate Member and above are assessed on evidence of practice; Fellowship is assessed by a panel.
Upgrading
Members can apply to upgrade at any time once they meet the criteria for the next grade. An upgrade brings a new certificate, digital badge and post-nominal.
Holding a grade
Membership is held, not just awarded. Members keep their grade by upholding the Code of Conduct, meeting the CPD expectation for their grade and renewing each year. Thepublic register is the authority on who holds a grade today.
Membership is open to people aged 18 and over. The same minimum age applies to every grade, including Student Affiliate.
