Four domains, one frontier
Emerging technology is served by strong single-domain bodies, but none convenes the whole frontier. IIoET covers four domains, and the ground where they meet.
Artificial Intelligence
AI has moved from research labs into the systems that run organisations, faster than the profession around it has formed. IIoET recognises the practitioners who build, secure, assure and govern these systems, and publishes the thinking that helps others do it well.
Quantum
Quantum technology has world-class research behind it but no professional home for the people turning it into practice. IIoET gives quantum practitioners a place to be recognised, and gives organisations a trusted voice on what quantum means for them now.
Blockchain and Web3
Distributed ledgers, digital assets and decentralised systems are maturing from experiment into infrastructure. IIoET separates durable engineering practice from hype, and recognises the practitioners doing that work rigorously.
Cyber Security
Cyber security is the most established of the four domains, and the one the others most depend on. IIoET focuses on where security meets emerging technology: AI-enabled attack and defence, the quantum threat to today’s cryptography, and the assurance of decentralised systems.
Where the domains meet
The hardest problems now sit between disciplines. Quantum computing threatens the cryptography that cyber security and blockchain depend on. AI is a tool on both sides of every attack and an agent that transacts on decentralised infrastructure. Assurance of any one of these systems needs expertise from the others.
That ground has no dedicated professional body. IIoET assesses, publishes and convenes across all four domains so the people working where they meet have a professional home.
